Thankful

Can't get enough of this snow and all the little gifts along the way today!   Thank you God!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving 2016 was spent with the entire Burkey clan!  First time in how long?  It was a nice slow relaxing day.   The following Sunday Cody Skrivseth dropped by on his way to SC so Gabes and us spent that day here doing puzzle and trains for the kids an settlers.  And pie eating and popcorn and coffee and quality conversation.  Good therapy that!

Kansas

The weekend before Thanksgiving, we took a break from it all and headed to Kansas.  Matt had a snow plow to pick up in Wichita and I have a niece in Hesston.  So we just took the whole weekend.  After the plow was picked up we found a nice hotel in Wichita and walked the river walk and ate at Old Chicago.  Downtown Wichita is beautiful but sad.  There are a lot of homeless sitting and sleeping in the old archways of old buildings.  The homeless shelters and food kitchens are down there.  But still with all the programs to help, it looked pretty sad.  Sometimes I wish I could go to these places and individually give these people tangible purpose and tools to raise themselves up  and out.  It's not that easy.  But reach out where you can people.   The river walk was pretty and amazing at sunset. I wish we could've stayed longer.  Hesston Campus on Sunday was fun to tour and walking the arboretum in the afternoon was neat....

Jeanie bday and catch up

Mikes were here for a few nights from Oregon.  This was an evening where we ate tons of popcorn from our own garden.  When six boys begin to take popcorn off the cob it goes really fast!  Watching her birthday cake bake Her birthday landed on Employee Appreciation party day.  She loved her gifts from Grandma and Kaitlyn and Amanda!  Our Hispanic Employees gave us a little fun lamb cooking experience.   Hanging out eating food and sitting by a fire on Employee Day Birthday stuff.   I don't see loads of laundry back there to fold, do you?   Lazy!  Keagan.  :) An evening out to buy clothes for the big guy.  He's growing too fast.  Afterwards we stopped for Icecream at Culvers.  Making the most of these Friday nights before he begins the whole running with the youth group thing on Friday nights.   Rebecca rod bike down to swap out her book ...
