Garage Sale finds

Well Arla and Judy both wanted to hear about what all I found at Garage Sales.  But first I should tell you. I started my day with 101$.  Not too bad really.  Matt found this money for me in the glove compartment of the van one day when we were on our way home from somewhere....and he stuffed it in my wallet and we never counted to see how much it was.   So that was a good start.  Then at the very first garage sale I saw this:    Beth and I saw it at the same time and I was rather piggish...I told her that I get it because she has lots of bikes around her place.  She was really kind about it.   She's always so sweet when I get blunt like that!  So anyhow, I then said I wasn't going to pay 10 $ for it though.  So I asked the lady how much and she said 5$!  I was so very happy....I like when garage sales actually sport garage sale prices.  So I got this treasure(did you notice it has a bell on it?) and felt p...

Life

Garage Sales are in season now. In case nobody told you yet, I just did!  So tomorrow is the day.  Tomorrow is the annual Garage Sale day for us Burkey ladies.  And to top the day off or start the day...(however you wish to do it)....Starbucks is offering free coffee to whoever brings in their own mug.  To celebrate Earth day.  What a good reason for Garage Sales too I guess...recycling junk.       The last two years on Garage Sale day I was pregnant and drove one of the vehicles.  This year I am not doing either one of those things!  So I'm having high hopes for this day.  I don't need a single thing.  I'm looking forward to lunch out with the girls and good chats and belly hurting laughs.  So I hope they don't all disappoint me.     Just found a new book to read. I read one chapter so far. It's called A Thousand Gifts.  It's about living life  fully. About gra...

Kansas Weekend

At the Cosmosphere Keagan was in awe of this creature....it had ladders!  We had such a good time at this museum.  Dr.Goddard's show was the best and watching Tornado Alley at the Imax was well worth it too.  There was this really tired looking couple at the park..... Zerrick was the photographer here and Keagan wanted in on the fame..... And we saw these three boys that were most precious to us there too.... They had other things in mind...mom taking pictures of them is just rather a waste of time....    The "flowers" were from the boys and we used them for our center piece.   We walked through a little free zoo and enjoyed the eagles, owls, snakes and turtles the most.     And a parting shot of spring time!!!!  I was trying to get a picture of the beautiful blossoms and I got a bleary image of those boys I really like walking to the car too.  :)  And that's all for our lovely weekend in Hutchi...

Monday's Post

We were in Kansas over the weekend and had a very lovely time.  I'll put picture on here and tell you about it later.     But for today I wanted to share what I heard one lady say this weekend...and it encouraged me.  She sad that when we pray with the thought of all our prayers/actions/ perspective/ priority be for the glory of God then we may see answers.  But so often we pray because of our own selfishness...and we leave out the part of living and doing and being for God's glory.  So in Practical living....when I beg and plead with God to please please make my boys sleep ALL night long so I can sleep.  And then I don't get a yes on that....am I perhaps being selfish and there is another way for God to get the glory?   (Altho' you'd think I could be more of a God fearing person if I could only sleep. Not?)  .....  So then I was reading Luci's post and she put a link in for that song...and I read the words to the song. And it...

Happy Anniversary to us!!!

Matt and I have been married ten years!  I wish I were a writer so that I could put into words all the sentimental and precious things that I could say! But I'm not so I will just put a few pictures on here that bring nostolgic feelings and lots of reflecting and praise to God.     Whenever people wonder how Matt and I met we both kind of look at each other and not really can pinpoit a time.  Matt says Mike introduced him to me at MBS '94.  I kind of faintly remember that but not like Matt did.  Because in '97 I saw him again at SMBI and he remembered me AND my birthdate and I couldn't figure out how he knew so much about me.  The real time we met was at SMBI 2000 and Matt got there late for the term and I thought he was rather arrogant and getting off too easy on stuff...like at roll call he wasn't even called on!  He was too much of an oldie there I guess.  And I was the scared little newbie.  For some odd reason whe...

Taxes and Boys' Project

So we got our taxes done...at least the digging for receipts and trying to figure out where ALL that money went to and now we're digging for more...It's beyond me how we could work so hard to earn that money and then back it goes to them again! Who's them anyhow? I though I made that money for our use!!! I am thankful that we have been so very blessed with income and occupation. Questions would rear their heads in any type of occupation as to whether this is the "right" thing to be doing no matter what. So I strive to be more thankful... Spring is here and this is a project we've been wanting to get done for a while. Homemade soccer goals! I am quite thrilled with this project. I feel bad that Z and I were such beggars about it but I am happy that my husband did it for us anyhow. These things are strong and durable and with three boys to put them to good use, we should be set for all the years to come. I think I am even looking forward to getting out there ...
