Zerrick's NIne and Other Things

My  first born baby boy turned nine today.  I am so very glad those baby days with him are over!  I am not natural baby mom....nine is much more manageable!   Sometimes.  :(   So we've been sick this week with stomach flu again. So Zerrick had to be happy with just a bit of party with just us and not much else today. Matt picked up an Angry Bird ice cream cake in Milford. He chose roast beef, baked potatoes and baked beans for supper (cuz that's kind of like a  cowboy meal).  And after supper he helped Matt find our potato rows again.  Nine will be nice if it means he's a useful little engine!

Baking Day

So I just had to show off my flowers I picked and my results of a day of baking.  Hungry anyone?   Actually this was my lazy way of making a little peace and beauty in this house.  Our lives have been tipped upside down in the last two weeks with VBS.  But tonight is the program and tomorrow I can work on creating real order and serenity in this house.  The boys have had sick messed up diets and all that good stuff.  And this mom is tired of flying out the door every night for the last two weeks.   I honestly don't know if it was worth it.    As far as baking day....baking went fabulously well today and the cinnamon rolls turned out soft and temptingly delicious.    We have an invite for supper away tomorrow night and Sunday dinner is at the gym for a farewell dinner for Justin's. And no having to sell at Market this week!  Happy weekend to you all!  :)

Checking in....

JUNE: I have rediscovered that I LOVE the month of June.  Its the days where we set up the sprinklers and fill the plastic inflatable pool and put the tarp on the hill with water running down it.  And I sit in my chair and soak in the HOT sun.  Or else chase up and down the tarp with the boys.  They love it and so do I.  We didn't get our garden planted this spring like most ambitious Nebraskan folks do so I planted whatever fun things I wanted this past week.  This is the way to garden...laid back and for the fun of it.  My canning shelves are barren but I'm not even caring too much.  I'll be good next summer! OUR HOUSE:   The basement is well on its way!  The walls are up and the floor is being prepared for cement.  Now I'm wondering about what kind of paint we should paint those cement walls so as to lighten the basement until we finish it off some sweet day?  Any and all advice is welcome.  And we have a ...

The Twins

So this post is for those people who love us and are interested in how much relatives and relations can look so much alike.... Mathias and Gwen I think this looks almost like two sets of twins.  They looked very much alike in real life...the pictures don't tell as well....

More Reunion

Whips were very popular during this reunion.  They cracked  beautifully with the mountains to echo off of! Jared blessed my heart.  I loved hearing him talk and Zerrick was pretty impressed that Jared taught him how to catch night crawlers.   The slide that Mathias continually whined, "down, down" about. Precious. My husband grilled the family a HUGE amount of ribs.  I thought they  were pretty good...as far as pork goes.  spoiled face.   After the ribs were done they did chicken breasts too.  And those were fabulous as well.  Jay stuck with Matt all day and helped out.   Other helpers and visitors..... Favorite Skrivseth Uncle... :)  Barrel rides. Dear spoiled one....scaring me every time he got to the top of that thing.  Nothing like dear friends from long ago.  I was so thrilled Kristy and JoAnna came to spend Sunday afternoon .  Love my friend...

Sweetness

One of my most precious pictures from the weekend.

Reunion / inside the pavilion

Judy decorated things up so very nice.....   The two oldest brothers....Dayton and Ivan games... talk....Elv looks distraught....it was probably the long drive out! :)  Zerrick's cousins his age.... He figured out how to blow bubbles. He says he looks like he's in a space helmet.... cheesy Zerrick.... The nine of us singing  What were we singing again?   Two of my pretty sisters! :)  This is what it was all about...Mom and Dad.  Somedays I wish I could just curl up right there on moms lap again and let her make it all better for me again....but life goes on....And now I'm the mom....time to grow up.  I never get a good shot of these two.  So this is a very important picture.  Matt and I were discussing how Norvan is 39.  And Zerrick commented with awe that he sure "looks" older!  Hee Hee! Oh but don't mind him Norvan.  He's only 8! :)   Isn't she pretty! ...

Happy 50th Anniversary

It really isn't their 50th anniversary until July 6.  But our family was able to get together and celebrate with them this last week.   Mom and Dad  Mom said she dislikes this picture.  But I don't.  I think it's a wonderful picture of my mom and dad at 50 years together!  That is something to make a hullabaloo about mom....even if you don't like hullabaloo!   Even after  the intense years and hard things they can still have a good laugh!  This is good Good!!!!!  :)  What a nice looking couple if I do say so myself. Thanks for all your love and care and prayers for your children.
