Dear Family and Friends,
Joy to the World because  of Jesus!   Since our boys are young and Christmas is so exciting for them, it’s made me think again about what does Christmas and Jesus really mean to us?
Our year  flew by as usual.  And all the usual things have happened.  But every visitor and every camping trip and  every canning season and every Market season and every roofing season has something to be learned or enjoyed.
We enjoyed a camping trip to Long Pine again this summer.  Zerrick and Keagan found a lovely place to hike.  Keagan caught his first trout.  All around we had a good relaxing time.  It’s just fun to have our own little friends and people all around us and doing things together.  Another little weekend away was to Hutchison KS.  There we visited all the Mennonite places like the  bulk food store and fabric store  and then we took a whole afternoon to visit the Cosmos Museum.  Dr. Goddard’s show was the best.  Rockets are a new cool thing now.
We had lots of visitors here as usual.  We had Norvans, Curts, Wendells, Mikes, Clarks, Ivans, Elvs, Shads, and some Colorado cousins as well.  We are blessed with many friends and family.  Come  see us again.  And thanks for stopping in even when I seemed unprepared…we loved having you!
Our boys are healthy and growing.  Zerrick is 8 and in 3rd grade.  School is at home this year in our little school room in the basement.  We love it and he’s learning.  He’s full of all kinds of ideas and he reads and reads and loves any kind of sport.  He spent hours out side chasing a football and hitting a baseball this summer.  Now he’s trying to be patient about the ice so he can play hockey.     Keagan is 4 on Dec 26.  He doesn’t care about being four for the same reasons Zerrick did.  Sunday School class has very little appeal .  He’s growing and the joke of the family.  He likes school time so we can do a project.  We’ve made a paper pony, elephant, spider, Christmas tree, an alligator, and other such fun things.   Mathias is 1.  And he talks all kinds of gibberish in all different tones of voices and he’s our spoiled baby.  We love them all.
Matt and I have our same jobs and places in this whole scheme of things.  Some days are harder than others but in the end, God is still good.  Matt works hard for us and takes amazing good care of us.
There is always something new for us to learn in this walk with Christ and we’re in for the whole adventure.  We hope you are too!  Jesus is the Way and the Truth.  Love, Matts

So this is what I was trying to get put in the mailbox for the the last few days.  If it never gets to your home just know that I sneaked in this way at least.    A Merry Christmas to all my dear friends and family!

Amy-
Good to hear of someone else who is struggling to get Christmas letters and pictures in the mail. I too was tempted to just post it on my blog and forget the snail mail!

Happy Birthday Keagan

Keagan turned three while we were in Idaho. So we made a cake and celebrated with the Skrivseth cousins this year. He was enthralled watching me make the cake. Had to have his little hand on that hat! gazing in adoration at it. Just about ready to blow those candles. He kept telling me that we couldn't sing Happy Birthday though. He's easily embarrassed! Silly guy! I rather like my little three year.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness  Forgiveness has bones It has a brain It uses logic  And common sense  Forgiveness goes about Finding a common ground. It shows up in common places. It happens unsuspected. Forgiveness allows one to Name the thing that happened. Forgiveness gives one a way To see it for what it was. Forgiveness provides for the  Empty spaces in conversation  And allows one to listen  And grieve outside of one’s own experience. Forgiveness walks into a situation  And remembers. But walks with peace And knows calmness. Forgiveness has an earpiece  On the heart  And a microphone  At his mouth Saying the words that Forgiveness has given him. Forgiveness doesn’t walk with fear. Forgiveness looks alone. But He’s always always  Hand in hand with gentleness and kindness. Forgiveness can stand alone though. It doesn’t melt away or dissipate  With time. Forgiveness is that little happy wren  On your shoulder  Forgiveness sings...

Let me tell you how God answers prayer

Did I ever write on here that I am teaching school at our little church school?  I absolutely love it and find that it's been a neat way to feel useful and invest in our bubble.  But I am requiring my kids to tell stories and write them and read them.  And right now they are in a four week story writing assignment and I began to wonder what I thought I was doing requiring something of them that I am not really proficient at nor am I very knowledgable about.       So for my story to write  let me tell you a little bit about how God answers prayer.  Sometime I feel like I should write Jeanie's whole story.  But not this time.             Jeanie's been having focal seizures.  We don't know when they started.  All we know is that we were advised to go get her growing pain/ leg cramps looked into and it started the beginning of many tests of which we still aren't done with....
