Mathias' First Hair Cut and a Recipe

My Baby is going to be in 2 in October and I cut his hair for the first time yesterday.  It was long and fine and beautiful shiny blond.  A most unusual thing in this house. And here are my two youngest with freshly cut hair.  And their 4th of July shirts on ...ready to head to the air show.    Our fourth was spent very successfully working and eating and playing.  We started out with haircuts ^^^  as you can see.  And then it was off to Seward to watch the planes show off.  Rather than fight the crowds and the heat we found a country road with a shade tree close to the airport and watched them show their stunts from there.  It worked out perfectly fine that way, especially because Nebraskans are so set in their ways that the home folks who were with us could give us the narration of the whole thing as they do "the same thing" every year.  And that's the truth.  Not much deviation and flexibility around here.....n...

Zerrick's NIne and Other Things

My  first born baby boy turned nine today.  I am so very glad those baby days with him are over!  I am not natural baby mom....nine is much more manageable!   Sometimes.  :(   So we've been sick this week with stomach flu again. So Zerrick had to be happy with just a bit of party with just us and not much else today. Matt picked up an Angry Bird ice cream cake in Milford. He chose roast beef, baked potatoes and baked beans for supper (cuz that's kind of like a  cowboy meal).  And after supper he helped Matt find our potato rows again.  Nine will be nice if it means he's a useful little engine!

Baking Day

So I just had to show off my flowers I picked and my results of a day of baking.  Hungry anyone?   Actually this was my lazy way of making a little peace and beauty in this house.  Our lives have been tipped upside down in the last two weeks with VBS.  But tonight is the program and tomorrow I can work on creating real order and serenity in this house.  The boys have had sick messed up diets and all that good stuff.  And this mom is tired of flying out the door every night for the last two weeks.   I honestly don't know if it was worth it.    As far as baking day....baking went fabulously well today and the cinnamon rolls turned out soft and temptingly delicious.    We have an invite for supper away tomorrow night and Sunday dinner is at the gym for a farewell dinner for Justin's. And no having to sell at Market this week!  Happy weekend to you all!  :)

Checking in....

JUNE: I have rediscovered that I LOVE the month of June.  Its the days where we set up the sprinklers and fill the plastic inflatable pool and put the tarp on the hill with water running down it.  And I sit in my chair and soak in the HOT sun.  Or else chase up and down the tarp with the boys.  They love it and so do I.  We didn't get our garden planted this spring like most ambitious Nebraskan folks do so I planted whatever fun things I wanted this past week.  This is the way to garden...laid back and for the fun of it.  My canning shelves are barren but I'm not even caring too much.  I'll be good next summer! OUR HOUSE:   The basement is well on its way!  The walls are up and the floor is being prepared for cement.  Now I'm wondering about what kind of paint we should paint those cement walls so as to lighten the basement until we finish it off some sweet day?  Any and all advice is welcome.  And we have a ...

The Twins

So this post is for those people who love us and are interested in how much relatives and relations can look so much alike.... Mathias and Gwen I think this looks almost like two sets of twins.  They looked very much alike in real life...the pictures don't tell as well....

More Reunion

Whips were very popular during this reunion.  They cracked  beautifully with the mountains to echo off of! Jared blessed my heart.  I loved hearing him talk and Zerrick was pretty impressed that Jared taught him how to catch night crawlers.   The slide that Mathias continually whined, "down, down" about. Precious. My husband grilled the family a HUGE amount of ribs.  I thought they  were pretty good...as far as pork goes.  spoiled face.   After the ribs were done they did chicken breasts too.  And those were fabulous as well.  Jay stuck with Matt all day and helped out.   Other helpers and visitors..... Favorite Skrivseth Uncle... :)  Barrel rides. Dear spoiled one....scaring me every time he got to the top of that thing.  Nothing like dear friends from long ago.  I was so thrilled Kristy and JoAnna came to spend Sunday afternoon .  Love my friend...
