And life keeps on....

Keagan loves working on his little projects during school hours.  This spider was one of the next things in line to do....nasty time of year for making spiders.  But it turned out rather fun anyhow.

He was in awe of that birthday candle.  And didn't know how to blow it out...but after Keagan showed him how it was done....

....He gave his best blow!  And now if he sees steam or smoke he's blowing and talking all about it.

Grandma gave him two wonderful books that he really likes

And a little car thing he drives around here from us.

Ice cream making.  Keagan and Mathias were in awe of it.  We're getting more and more evenings where we can do important things with the kids.  I love that.

Mathias is intrigued.  Keagan is enthralled.  Zerrick is cranking and Matt is holding it still.

We're done with Market.  We're done with Harvest. And we're winding down on roofing season!  Yes and praise the good Lord!  I'm wondering if maybe it's not time for a sabbatical from all this craziness. Across the seas missionaries come home for a sabbatical.  But when you're a missionary right where you live you get   6 hr breaks at night.  That's all. But once in a while God eases the intensity and you get a few weeks of joy and rest in the middle of the crazies too.  Mostly in the looking back and being thankful you find the rest and peace.
One of my sisters keeps talking about looking up and believing in God is good and living on that.  Or else if you don't you only just see the negatives and never get out of the deep....you stay rolling in the mud so to speak. I think she's right.
On more of a down to earth note.  My three boys are out playing in this crisp fall noon in the sandbox.  That is nearly perfect peace and happiness right here on earth.  I've been amazed and  awed again that God has given us three boys.  I watch them play and talk and giggle and chase around all day long...and fight too...and I wonder if they'll turn out.  And I hope I'm really taking the time to train them and show them the most important things in life. I asked Matt the other night if he thinks we're doing okay.  He said in total confidence that we're doing good.
(Along the line of finishing up harvest and roofing and stuff.....I'm hoping for a winter of little snow and long evenings at home...and evenings with candles burning and games with the kids and friends and family and puzzles and popcorn and ice skating on the pond .....and please God, no blizzards this year please?)
Two weeks from now we'll be packing up for a nice long vacation west.  Idaho people beware...There are five of us and we're aching for vacation and coffee and conversation all that stuff.

Sick on the couch today (ugh!) but what a nice chance to catch up on your blog. I like the peace I feel when I visit here. Your boys are so sweet. You love your husband. And you're with the rest of us, trying to enjoy this busy stage of life with grace and laughter.

Your little schoolroom is amazing, Amy! Good job.

And the spider is cute. I feel like such a boring mom lately. I need to get more creative with projects for my kids.

Thanks for your visits to my site and your comments. I wish we could meet up when you come to Idaho. Have a wonderful time, by the way.

oh...have to add yet that Matt's answer to your query about whether you're raising your boys right sounds so much like Dan.
You are doing a good job raising those sweet boys! Can't wait to see your gang again! Looking forward to all the yacking too...

It was good catching up with you on your blog. You are just loving those 3 little boys of yours and that's great.

I think we need a sabbatical too! Harvest is over but it's usually December before I sigh my big sigh of relief. 'Cause there's manure hauling and field work and other land improvement projects....but its good. God is good. And we're keeping our eyes on Him, right?

I'll try this for the second time. I think Mathias looks so much like your mom in that second picture you posted (where he's looking up, all innocent), and in the pic of him blowing out his candle I really see some of your brothers in him. I always like to see bits of your life when you post. Just wish this comment thing were easier! (Or that I were smarter?)

Happy Birthday Keagan

Keagan turned three while we were in Idaho. So we made a cake and celebrated with the Skrivseth cousins this year. He was enthralled watching me make the cake. Had to have his little hand on that hat! gazing in adoration at it. Just about ready to blow those candles. He kept telling me that we couldn't sing Happy Birthday though. He's easily embarrassed! Silly guy! I rather like my little three year.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness  Forgiveness has bones It has a brain It uses logic  And common sense  Forgiveness goes about Finding a common ground. It shows up in common places. It happens unsuspected. Forgiveness allows one to Name the thing that happened. Forgiveness gives one a way To see it for what it was. Forgiveness provides for the  Empty spaces in conversation  And allows one to listen  And grieve outside of one’s own experience. Forgiveness walks into a situation  And remembers. But walks with peace And knows calmness. Forgiveness has an earpiece  On the heart  And a microphone  At his mouth Saying the words that Forgiveness has given him. Forgiveness doesn’t walk with fear. Forgiveness looks alone. But He’s always always  Hand in hand with gentleness and kindness. Forgiveness can stand alone though. It doesn’t melt away or dissipate  With time. Forgiveness is that little happy wren  On your shoulder  Forgiveness sings...

Let me tell you how God answers prayer

Did I ever write on here that I am teaching school at our little church school?  I absolutely love it and find that it's been a neat way to feel useful and invest in our bubble.  But I am requiring my kids to tell stories and write them and read them.  And right now they are in a four week story writing assignment and I began to wonder what I thought I was doing requiring something of them that I am not really proficient at nor am I very knowledgable about.       So for my story to write  let me tell you a little bit about how God answers prayer.  Sometime I feel like I should write Jeanie's whole story.  But not this time.             Jeanie's been having focal seizures.  We don't know when they started.  All we know is that we were advised to go get her growing pain/ leg cramps looked into and it started the beginning of many tests of which we still aren't done with....
