Another of my Valentines

This is King Keagan Michael Burkey

Here he is again.  Notice he always has that blanket ?  He's so thin and always cold when it's meal time.

He got it on all by himself and feeling pretty smart!

The boys got these lincoln logs for Christmas.  Keagan spends the most time with them
and won't let me help....he wants to show me he can do it himself.  And he does a good job.

After watching Zerrick build exotic things he has to do it too...and again, he does
a pretty good job independently.

On any game on here he knows just how it should be done.  If only
dad would let him push the buttons every time!

Remember a year or so ago how sick Keagan was because of the mold in our house?  Looking back has given me
courage.  He's so much healthier.  This winter Zerrick has been the one to be on antibiotics over and over.  And Keagan hasn't gotten sick! I'm so happy! He's a healthy smart little 4 year old.  He still has his high sense of embarrassment but his courage and humor is coming out again,  The other day he said, "Here's a joke, mom."  And then he blew in my face and said, "Boy it's windy today!"    I asked him where he got that joke and he said, "Zerrick".  So he takes Zerricks better jokes and makes them better.  (Zerrick has some pretty lame ones)! :)    I found a little Thomas laptop at Et Cetra the other day and he's been sitting at that thing for hours.  And he's learning his letters and numbers quite well.  He knows things I didn't know he knew!  So next school season he's going to be ready to shape those letters and numbers and actually do more hands on book stuff. At this point it looks like I'm going to be able to teach him to read when he's five at whatever pace he wants.  We'll see.  He's still my little imp.   And he's my rubberband and skinny skeleton boy....but he still comes in for hugs and tickles as often as possible.

I'm glad your family from afar can see your children growing up from pictures on your blog. Mine didn't have that privilege. We had snail mail photos, letters and phone calls. This nearby Grandma enjoys your posts too.

Happy Birthday Keagan

Keagan turned three while we were in Idaho. So we made a cake and celebrated with the Skrivseth cousins this year. He was enthralled watching me make the cake. Had to have his little hand on that hat! gazing in adoration at it. Just about ready to blow those candles. He kept telling me that we couldn't sing Happy Birthday though. He's easily embarrassed! Silly guy! I rather like my little three year.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness  Forgiveness has bones It has a brain It uses logic  And common sense  Forgiveness goes about Finding a common ground. It shows up in common places. It happens unsuspected. Forgiveness allows one to Name the thing that happened. Forgiveness gives one a way To see it for what it was. Forgiveness provides for the  Empty spaces in conversation  And allows one to listen  And grieve outside of one’s own experience. Forgiveness walks into a situation  And remembers. But walks with peace And knows calmness. Forgiveness has an earpiece  On the heart  And a microphone  At his mouth Saying the words that Forgiveness has given him. Forgiveness doesn’t walk with fear. Forgiveness looks alone. But He’s always always  Hand in hand with gentleness and kindness. Forgiveness can stand alone though. It doesn’t melt away or dissipate  With time. Forgiveness is that little happy wren  On your shoulder  Forgiveness sings...

Let me tell you how God answers prayer

Did I ever write on here that I am teaching school at our little church school?  I absolutely love it and find that it's been a neat way to feel useful and invest in our bubble.  But I am requiring my kids to tell stories and write them and read them.  And right now they are in a four week story writing assignment and I began to wonder what I thought I was doing requiring something of them that I am not really proficient at nor am I very knowledgable about.       So for my story to write  let me tell you a little bit about how God answers prayer.  Sometime I feel like I should write Jeanie's whole story.  But not this time.             Jeanie's been having focal seizures.  We don't know when they started.  All we know is that we were advised to go get her growing pain/ leg cramps looked into and it started the beginning of many tests of which we still aren't done with....
