A Series of Perfect

I've have had such perfectness in my life lately. It's not that I haven't had Real too. But I couldn't ask for much more perfect. Today it rained. Yesterday it did too. The day before I dug in the garden all day. On that same day I had a friend over who helped dig. She calmly tells me her own life joys and sorrows. She never pressures me or expects more from me than I can give.   Our kids played like the  hardy wholesome kids they are.   When one got hit on the teeth with a baseball she was across the yard and checking the damage in no time. But when the biggest boy tagged the little one out there was no cries of poor sport. Wholesome good play and fun.   That's perfection. They all helped me put my newly acquired perennials in the ground. They found a snake egg and fought over it and grossed out too. And then today, another friend came for coffee this morning and it was still wet and raining. The conversation was a lift for me. ...

Phone Picture Randomness

Aw well, what a mixed up pile of pictures.  And they're only phone pictures and the mess I had getting them from there to here is ridiculous.  Definitely not very techy,  this girl.    So the first three...  We went to Kansas last weekend in a fit of escaping for a bit.  We drove in the rain all around Tuttle Lake, learning some interesting history about it and ended our day at a Holiday Inn for the night and supper at a steak place of some sort.  The town of Manhattan, Kansas is a sweet town for a quick get away.  On Sunday morning we visited a musty little old Mennonite church with a woman preaching for us that morning.  Wonder why they still hold the Mennonite name on their sign?  In these little churches we visit here and there across Nebraska we always find old community and connections of some sort.   These old buildings and  little experiences off the beaten path have been good experiences for our kids. For one...

No Regrets

I'm curious if it's possible to live without regret?   If you look back over your life do you stack up more regrets than no regrets?    I seriously don't know.   It's always been my creed to do things with the least amount of baggage to straighten out.   So in relationships I've found that I can do and say the things that are the best I can think to do while I'm in that situation.   But I don't really think I ever get through those moments always regret free.   But often I can get through without looking back with regret because I clearly remember shaking inside and praying while I was relating to that person.   And when I've committed it to God like that how can I look back and kick myself?   Haven't I committed it already?   So I commit it to God again.  But this one thing I DO know...... when you're faced with something and you KNOW you're gonna get a lot of flack for the choice ...

Mother's Day

In tribute to my moms:        Do you see the wisdom and experience in those eyes like I do.  I think mothers have the most beautiful souls!  I thank God for my moms! My mom.   Matt's Mom.  Mothers Day is not a holiday I have ever enjoyed as a mom. I actually dread it.  I wonder if I got that from my mom?  I don't know.   BEING a mom is amazing though.  Here's a few reasons I love it... I love my kids snuggled up on all sides engrossed in our story.  I love that joy spot in my heart that gets filled when I'm snuggling them in my arms.  I love the stolen squeezes from my fat little boy.  I love those times when all of our world is right there in my lap.  How'd that little baby get to be 18 months already ?!  Ah!  That was the sweet times of baby stage.  I love doing things like making ice cream with my kids.   I love taking just ONE with ...

So Much

Life is filled with so much extreme.   Just in my little bubble I have the extreme of tears one minute and hysterical laughing the next.   Or joy and pain right next to each other.     The extreme of surrendering and  worry.     In world news it's killing and hate but the world news that doesn't get put on is about kindness and love too.   Today, I'm tired and  if I really admit to myself my issue it's fear again....    But I read in Psalm 139 that light and darkness are the same to God, and that HE knows everything and is everywhere.   He knew me before I knew myself.  So it's surrender and remembering that this moment isn't the whole story.   But this moment is the part I'm in and God is here before me....He knows the story.   Rest.   And memorize what I have now.   Because now is pretty amazing. Because God has provided so much . Because this...

My List

Last night I crawled into my bed next to my good man and I smiled inside thinking about what a pile of good things God has blessed us with.   Yesterdays list was this: My kind husband who cares for me and us so much. Our four babies (Who are not babies anymore) but ours!   A fun day for Keagan and Jeanie and I going to many garage sales with the rest of the Burkey women. Lots of good finds including Old Navy Jeans for my eldest. A smooth easy grocery shopping adventure afterwards at Aldi's. (All stores need to be like Aldi's. Smaller is always better.) The dishes were ALL done last night when I went to bed.   The house was relatively straightened.   Mathias had, had a fun day playing with Bryce and Conner. Zerrick had, had a good day with Matt. Matt was able to clear away a few more dead trees from the yard and hauled in piles of dirt to begin the garage building. And what makes me smile too is thinking back a yea...

Catch up

We've been busy.  In the last week we got the garden planted, we've gone to the zoo for a day, we've had over night guests for three days, and we've had a baby with ear infection in both ears.   . Matt and his cousin Mike planting our garden. * A batch of second cousins.... guns and boys... Spring time 2015.  And now we have a beautiful rain to get that garden going  and the grass is getting green and  I have a wonderful life with health and a nice home and so blessed.  I am noticing how good I really have it.   I thank God!
