Thoughts on life...

Arla says I need to post again. I don't have any new pictures to post and nothing too big or new to share....
Some things to think about in our lives lately.....

1, What is relationship with God? Lately I've been talking to a few friends and relations and I've been noticing them talking about desiring a deeper relationship with God. And how something in life brought them to this point or whatever they all say. So that is what brought about my question. Does relationship w/ God mean certain things? Does it mean the same thing for everyone? And the most important question.....What does God say about relationship with Him?

2, How much of the world events and news should affect how we run our lives? Do we live in fear ? Do we go about as normal? Or do use the time God has given us to think ahead for harder times? And how do we relate to everyone around us w/ all the current events? Surely there are people out there wondering and searching for answers?

3, How important is owning a house and chasing the American dream? How does one stay moderate in all things?

4, How does one raise boys who are strong, happy, wholesome, and wise?
So many questions...and I'm sure life will always be life and I'll have different questions next week. So far now I do my moment and wonder if I'm going to get that down right too!

But I do know.....My dishes need done every day. there is always laundry to do. and closets to clean out, and baking to do, and two boys to train into gentlemen, and a husband to honour and keep happy! So perhaps I should go do that!
And maybe that's one of those ways where I find a little bit of my answer to what is relationship w/ God? And maybe that is my answer to all my questions...just living out what is in front of me now?

I don't have answers to all your questions....I am asking some of them myself! Relationship with God....I think it is a good sign to desire a deeper one, don't you think? Remember our teenage "keep the want"?! For me sometimes I feel like I'm floundering a little because I don't have so many of those cozy, long, hours to myself where I can think, pray, journal - which were the things that made me "feel" close to God in my single years. And I really miss that at times. But, we are in a diff. season of life now....serving our families is serving God....Jesus said that if we love Him we will obey Him....we cannot neglect our families or we are neglecting Him too. Yeah but we need to try to get some refreshment when we can grab it, be it a few minutes here or there...I am glad when I get reminded that I am His beloved daughter, be it from something in a book I read, song I hear, or just the correction I get when I start thinking critically of others and He reminds me that it's wrong....

The world events and future times one, hmmm, I can easily get my shorts in a wad over things like that , that I know I am in no control over. That is when I have to choose to believe with my head and not my heart. God has not given us a spirit of fear........am I trusting Him completely or not?

I can imagine that once we're finally HOME in heaven, that we would all agree that owning a home and chasing the American dream meant nothing, nothing at all. But while we live here, we have to live here...isn't that profound?! In the past couple years my mind has def. been drawn more to remembering that this world is not my HOME and what am I doing that counts? And you know, I think these supposedly "mundane" things we do for our families can count, if we do them with the right attitude! Thanks for your ?? Amy, I like your thoughts!

The other day I was asking God to make my relationship with Him to be about Him, not about me. 'Cause right now it seems like its all about me. I think its time for that to change. Great questions!

In My Worship Place

Last time I posted I mentioned being in a quiet spot.      It's curious to me how one can be in a quiet spot internally but super busy externally and then be in a quiet season externally but Internally be in a season of seeking and crying and lonely.      Zerrick and Susanna's reception in our yard is over and my many siblings showing up for us was a cherry on top.   It felt like a relaxed good reception and I spent most of it watching people and listening in on little groups of chatter.      And then the twelve hours with my siblings on Saturday.  God worked it out so I could have tiny little snitches of chat that I could be assured that I got the most of the gift of them even being here.        We all stood around and prayed and cried and sobbed together for a short time before Bruce's left.  Healing.  I still feel emotional about it.  And now it's qu...

A few things...

Okay, I have a whole pile of pictures I'm going to post one of these days. In the mean time....a few more questions to add to my last post.... 1. What do people mean when they say things like, " He/she spoke peace/ blessing/ love/truth or whatever into my heart? How does one get truth spoke into ones heart by another person? Okay, now I expect to hear someone defend themselves for saying this or else clarify to me why it sounds so off the wall......no reading this w/out some input! 2. What else? I was asking about what does it mean to have deeper relationship w/ God. So everyone said ya that's a good thing to desire. Here's my thought. You either have a relationship w/ God or you don't. So then who decides if it's a deeper relationship than....see how can you know? Can you compare? That won't work because God doesn't work like that....putting us on brackets of who is most spiritual. The only way you can use the term in having a deeper relationship w/ Go...

Happy Birthday Keagan

Keagan turned three while we were in Idaho. So we made a cake and celebrated with the Skrivseth cousins this year. He was enthralled watching me make the cake. Had to have his little hand on that hat! gazing in adoration at it. Just about ready to blow those candles. He kept telling me that we couldn't sing Happy Birthday though. He's easily embarrassed! Silly guy! I rather like my little three year.
